Almay Goddess Gloss: Swatches and Review

Anyways, let’s get on to today’s review! I am a member of InfluenceHer Collective, which is a blogging network for college students and young professionals. They sent me a gorgeous care package to share on my Instagram account. 🙂 Most of the items were non-makeup related, but there was a set of Almay Goddess Glosses, which I’ll review today.

Almay’s Goddess Glosses are prismatic lip glosses that give your lips an iridescent glow. These are high-shine and sheer, and can be worn solo or layered over lipstick. Goddess Glosses are made with pomegranate, grape, and raspberry oils and are super moisturizing. There are currently 8 shades, and they cost $8 at Target and $10 at Ulta.

I received four shades: Rainbow (purple gloss with silver and blue reflects), Fairy (pink gloss with gold reflects), Flame (red gloss with purple and reflects), and Mystic (lavender gloss with blue, silver, and purple reflects).

Here’s a look at them, swatched on my arm. From top to bottom, Rainbow, Mystic, Fairy, and Flame.

You can’t really see the shimmer in the swatches, so let’s take a close up at my lips.

I LOVE how Rainbow and Fairy look on my bare lips! Rainbow is definitely the most pigmented out of the four glosses, and Fairy gives me such a fresh, peachy glow. Mystic is a lot more iridescent, and I think it would look best as a lip topper. And Flame? Honestly, don’t buy it. It’s extremely patchy, and sticks to weird spots in my lips. It applies pale pink to the middle of my lips, and then the dark red collects towards the inner and outer edges. It’s not a cute look.

In today’s makeup, I layered Mystic (the pale lavender) over a dark blue matte lipstick. It gave me instant shine and shimmer!

Okay, so in my opinion the shades “Rainbow” and “Fairy” are worth checking out. Not only do they make great lip toppers, but they also work well as solo glosses. “Mystic” is a pretty shade and works nicely as a topper, but don’t purchase it if you want something that can be worn alone – especially if you are fair skinned, because it might make you look washed out. Don’t bother picking up Flame, because it doesn’t work well as a gloss, or a topper. I hope this review helped, and please leave a comment below if you have any questions about Goddess Gloss!
