Hello friends! Before I dive into the review, I want to share some great news with you. Some of you who’ve been following me for a while may know that I write for Find Subscription Boxes. Well, I am officially the manager of the site! I’ve been super busy, and haven’t been writing on here too much as of late. Now that I’ve put together a review team (although, I’m still looking for one or two more bloggers – email me if you’re interested), I have more spare time to write on here again. Oh, how I’ve missed it!
Anyways, let’s get into this review! I received a Flaunt It Voxbox from Influenster, and one of the products inside was this Becca Be a Light Face Palette in Light/Medium. I was super excited to see this, because the only other Becca product I own is a Prosecco Pop highlighter – which I love. Let’s see if I love this too!
So, the packaging for the palette is super cute. The cardboard box comes with what looks like a sun and rays embossed on the front. The actual palette has the words “Be a Light” on the front. I really like the quality of the packaging; it’s super sturdy and is this beautiful rose gold/bronzy color. It is super reflective though, which means it smudges easily. I had to wipe so many fingerprints off this before taking the photos, haha!
The bottom of the palette is super hard to read. I am not sure why they combined tiny text with a white font color and a light peach background color – they pretty much guaranteed it would be impossible to read. Basically, it is a map of the palette. The first pan is a brightening powder, the top center pan is a blush, the bottom center pan is a bronzer, and the last pan is a blurring powder.
I love, love, LOVE the gigantic mirror inside this palette. It has “Be Radiant” printed on it, as well as little sun rays.
Here is a look at the pans. As you can see, there is a fair bit of loose powder on the palette. These face powders are quite chalky, and powder flies everywhere when you try to pick some up with your brush. Even just transporting the palette will cause some of the powder to loosen.
I received the palette in Light/Medium. Here are the swatches for the brightening powder (top) and the blurring powder (bottom).
Also, here are the swatches for the blush (top), and the bronzer (bottom).
Okay, so I really don’t think this palette will work well on medium skin. The bronzer shade is barely deeper than the blurring powder, and I just don’t think it is dark enough to work with a medium skin tone. Becca also sells a Medium/Deep Be a Light palette, which would work well with medium skin. However, the bronzer isn’t nearly dark enough for deep skin tones! Here’s a look at the Medium/Deep palette:
So, if you have medium skin, I would recommend buying the Medium/Deep palette. If you have deep skin, I wouldn’t recommend purchasing this product.
Okay, so now that we’ve gone over the shade range, let’s talk about the actual quality of the powders! I love the brightening powder, and I use it a lot more than the blurring powder. I don’t really see a difference in my pores when I use the blurring powder, but the brightening powder definitely brightens my face! I like to use it on my T-zone, and it does a pretty good job at preventing me from getting oily.
I also LOVE the blush and contour shades. The blush is such a pretty, shimmery pink that is perfect for summer – and the contour is warm without appearing orange on my skin. Here’s a look at what my makeup looks like, with the Be a Light palette incorporated into my routine.
So, I quite like the palette because of the first three pans and find myself reaching for it every day. However, I definitely think $46 is way too expensive for what you are actually getting. The blush, brightening powder, an contour are nice – but I also have just as good quality ones that I got for way cheaper. This is just convenient, because it is all in one palette. If you have the money to spend and prefer to use higher end products, you would probably like this. But if you like to get the most bang for your buck, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
I really hope you found this review useful! Please comment below if you have any questions. 🙂
