Tarte Pro Glow Liquid Highlighter in ” Exposed” (Review + Swatch)

Remember when I said a couple weeks ago that I have a serious highlighter addiction? Well this Tarteist Pro Glow Liquid Highlighter is only throwing fuel on the fire! I received it in a Boxycharm a couple months ago, but I wanted to wait to test it until I used up at least one of my other liquid highlighters. Now that my beloved NYX Away We Glow in “Moonglow” is kaput, I have finally put the Tarteist Pro Glow to the test. And oh my GOD, it is stunning. Keep reading for swatches, and to see how it looks on my cheekbones!

The Product

The Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Liquid Highlighter costs $29, and contains about .56 oz of product. This bottle contains significantly more product than all of my other liquid highlighters, which range from .1 – .4 oz.

It comes in three shades, “Exposed” (nude), “Sparkler” (rose gold), and Stunner (opalescent). The shade range is a little odd and limited. Each of the highlighters are too warm to work with very fair skin tones, and too light to work with dark skin tones. Cream highlighters are generally more forgiving than powders when it comes to using the wrong shade, but I think they need to add in more shades.

The Packaging

I received the shade “Exposed”, which comes in a peach squeezy tube with gold reflective writing and a gold cap. Like most Tarte product, it looks and feel luxurious.

The shade name, ingredients, and volume information are on the back of the tube.

A little tiny dab of the Tarteist Pro Glow Liquid Highlighter goes a LONG way. I would recommend using about 1/2 the size of the amount shown below when applying your makeup.

Here is the highlight swatch on my hand, in natural lighting. It is so reflective even without flash or a ringlight!

And here is a closeup of the swatch, so you can see just how blinding it is.

Testing It Out

The Tarteist Pro Glow Liquid Highlighter is easy to blend, and you can build it from (somewhat) natural looking to absolutely shining. My favorite way to apply was with my finger, and then using the bottom of a beauty blender to bounce away the excess. The result was a gorgeous, wet looking sheen that made me feel like a glowy goddess. The shade “Exposed” is perfect for my skin tone, and the gold undertones are great for summer.

My Thoughts

This is one of my favorite liquid highlighters, and I think it is really flattering and easy to work with. Like I said before though, I think they should introduce some more shades. At the very least they need to add cool toned highlighters, because warm golds are not going to look good on everybody.

If you think one of the three shades they offer would work with your skin tone, then I would recommend the product. If they don’t offer your preferred shade or tone, then I would suggest using the NYX Away We Glow Liquid Highlighter. It is 1/4 of the price, and they offer 9 shades!
