Hello friends! I used to shop for makeup exclusively at Walmart, Target, and CVS, and it makes my heart happy to see beauty lovers openly embracing drugstore makeup. It also helps that drugstore brands have REALLY stepped up their game. Packaging, quality, ingredients; it keeps getting better and better. Luxury makeup is wonderful, but if you can save money without skimping on quality, well why the heck wouldn’t you??
If you like to buy your makeup essentials at Wal-Mart, you may have noticed a brand called Found. They are a relatively new beauty brand, and they offer natural products for an affordable price. Today I will be reviewing several of their products. Stick around and see if you want to try out Found!
Disclaimer: These are PR samples, sent for an unbiased review.
So, first I want to give a little info about Found. Their products can be purchased at discoverfound.com, Walmart.com, and in select Walmart locations. None of their products are tested on animals, and most of them are vegan. There are a few that contain beeswax, however.
Found uses ingredients known for their healing properties, such as activated charcoal, argan oil, coconut, pomegranate, and more! Click here to read more about their “miracle ingredients”.
Pictured below is everything that Found sent me! I received four skincare items, two makeup items, and a pack of makeup wipes. This was so generous of them, and I was so excited to start testing everything!
First, I want to take a look at the skincare items they sent me. Three of them are for my face – the Marshmallow Calming Face Serum, White Clay Toning Spray, and California Poppy Face Lotion.
So Found does this thing where they label their skincare products with a number; “1” stands for cleansing, “2” stands for treatment, and “3” stands for hydration. The Marshmallow Calming Face Serum and White Clay Toning Sprays are both treatments, and the California Poppy Face Lotion is for hydration.
All right, let’s take a closer look at the Marshmallow Calming Face Serum! I was excited when I saw this, and expected it to smell like marshmallows. Well, it doesn’t smell like marshmallows, but it does contain marshmallow root extract. Is it bad that I didn’t know marshmallow is actually a plant? Early marshmallow candies actually contained root juice, but now just have gelatin. Anyways, the marshmallow root soothes and moisturizes your skin, and was used as skincare by the ancient Egyptians.
The Calming Marshmallow Serum is 97% natural, and costs $15.99. It comes in a 1 fl oz bottle, and has a dropper attached to the cap. Serums are supposed to be used after cleansing skin and before moisturizer, so that’s how I’ve been using it for the past week.
The serum is quite thick, and definitely leaves my skin feeling moisturized. I have previously used some Vitamin C serums that were acidic and actually caused skin damage. This, on the other hand, is very soothing and is great for sensitive skin! I will continue to use this as part of my daily skincare routine. The only thing I don’t love about this serum is that it smells like rubber.
Let’s take a look at the White Clay Toning Spray next. This is supposed to control excess sebum, as well as tighten your pores. This is also $15.99 and 97% natural, and it comes in a 4 fl oz bottle.
White clay is an ingredient that absorbs excess oil without overdrying your skin, and it also cleanses pores and exfoliates. The White Clay Toning spray also uses Willow bark to mattify and soothe skin, and lemongrass to tone and balance.
Here are my thoughts on the toner: It has amazing results and has keeps my oily t-zone from breaking down my makeup throughout the day, but it could use a little fine-tuning. The smell makes me think of sour lawn clippings, and the nozzle produces a very heavy mist.
The final facial skincare item I received was the California Poppy Face Lotion. This is a 3.5 fl oz bottle, and costs $17.99 – and is 97% natural, just like the others. The California poppy extract calms and soothes the skin, and it also contains Beta Glucan for hydration.
This is thicker than a lot of moisturizers than I use, and really feels like a lotion when you put it on. However, it is non-greasy and is absorbed quickly. It doesn’t feel nearly as heavy as you would imagine, and it keeps my face feeling hydrated throughout the day. This is perfect for these cold, dreary months. The California Poppy Face Lotion also smells the best out of the three face skincare products I tried; it has a mild, slightly floral smell – which I’m assuming is from the poppy extract.
Next, I received an Exfoliating Lip Scrub. This costs $13.99, and is 99% natural! It contains poppy seeds to slough off dry flakes of skin, and mango seed butter to nourish and protect your lips. I love lip scrubs that come with a natural moisturizer! So many lip scrubs end up leaving my lips even more chapped afterwards. This, however, locks in moisture. Again, the only issue I have with this is its rubbery smell and taste.
Okay, let’s move on to the makeup items!
Found sent me their Nourishing Cream Blush Tint, which is 99% natural and costs $13.99. The blush is colored by mineral pigments, and is infused with oil for a natural looking glow. This was my first time using a cream blush and I wasn’t sure what to expect. It is a beautiful, subtle sheer pink that blends easily into the skin. I don’t like to use a strong blush, so this was perfect for me. I just warmed it up on my fingers, and patted it onto my cheeks. I went over it with a beauty blender just to make sure it was 100% even, but I’m just extra like that. 😉
I also received their Volumizing Mascara, which was my favorite item of them all! This mascara is 98% natural, and costs $13.99. I was a little hesitant about wearing natural mascara. Whenever I wear Physician’s Formula natural mascara and my eyes water, it burns SO badly!! And since I’m always reading sad books, my eyes water quite frequently. I put this mascara to the test, and there was no pain! Plus, my lashes looked amazing. 🙂
The mascara contains Candelilla & Carnauba waxes to keep your application clump-free, and it also uses Nettle Seed Extract to condition your lashes. The lash conditioning is a big deal for me, because a lot of mascaras make my lashes quite brittle. Here are my eyes with one coat of the Volumizing Mascara:
The final item I received was the Eucalyptus Detoxifying Face Wipes. You get a pack of 25 for $9.75, and they are 98% natural. This was the only item that I really didn’t like; the smell was very strong, it didn’t do a great job of removing my makeup, and I really think ten bucks is way overpriced for makeup wipes.
So, here is how my makeup looked today! I used the skincare products before applying any makeup, and I used the Nourishing Cream Blush Tint and the Volumizing Mascara.
Overall, I am very impressed by Found! They are making natural, cruelty-free makeup affordable and accessible and the quality is quite good – although the smell needs to be worked on. If you have any questions about Found, please ask in the comments! Thanks for reading. 🙂
