Ormond Beach Celtic Festival 2017

Hello, friends! My internship and classes are coming to an end, so I finally have time to get outside and have some fun! The neighboring town has a yearly Celtic festival that I’ve wanted to go to for a while now. I only have a couple drops of Celtic blood in me, so I was mostly just going because I really enjoy the music and food. 😉

The walk there was gorgeous! It was about 85 degrees out, with a nice breeze to cool us off.

The area was packed! I was walking by a family, and heard them talking about how the crowd was almost as bad as Disney. I wouldn’t say it was quite that crowded, but there was definitely a LOT of foot traffic. I liked it though; I think it’s really awesome when members of a community gather like this.

One of my favorite parts of the festival was watching the Highland Games. One of the competitions was Sheaf Toss; the contestants used a pitchfork to hurl a 16 lb bag as high up as possible. One of the participants is actually going to the world championships in Reykjavik, Iceland!

We also wandered around, listening to music at the various stages. My favorite performance was by the Village Gypsies. I wish there had been bagpipe performances though! I went through a phase in high school, where all I would listen to was bagpipes. 😛

After this, we were a bit hungry… There were a LOT of food vendors, but we decided to stop at the Highland Glenn food truck. I normally eat a vegetarian diet, but I tried a sausage roll. My boyfriend got the Shepherd’s Pie, which he really enjoyed!

We grabbed our food, found a patch of grass in the shade, and ate while listening to more music. It was so relaxing! 🙂

Before leaving, we made sure to check out some of the shops. Everything was pretty expensive, so we didn’t buy much. But, we did buy some really good pastries from a bakery!

I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my life! I love taking pictures of the things I do, and I am hoping to share them with you all more often. Let me know if you liked this type of blog post!
