It’s Okay to Take a Break

It’s been about a month since my last blog post. I’ve become the student teacher in a special needs kindergarten class, and it has consumed pretty much all of my life. I leave the house at 6:45 a.m., and I don’t get home until about 5 p.m. (It’s a +1 school, so student dismissal isn’t until 3:30). Once I’m home, I have to work on my college assignments and lesson planning – so I really don’t get any free time until about 8 p.m. I absolutely love my job, and I am so excited to teach every single morning! However, this requires a lot of energy, and for a while my excitement towards blogging faded.

So here I am, a month later and finally writing another post. After my first week of not posting, I started to feel guilty. I thought that I was betraying everybody who reads my blog; I have made friends with a lot of you, and it feels like a family. But, I realized the world spins on regardless of whether I post or not. 😉 I decided that I would take a break, until I actually felt a yearning to write again. Because at the end of the day, I blog because I enjoy it. If I had continued to post even though I wasn’t feeling it, then it would have lost its fun, and I wouldn’t have created any posts worth being proud of.

So, why am I sharing this with you? Well, I’ve noticed that a lot of bloggers seem to go through the same things as I do. Half the posts I read start with “I know I haven’t blogged in a while, and I’m so sorry…”. I just want to encourage my fellow bloggers to take a break if you need to! If it is something you need, then you shouldn’t have to apologize for it. Take care of yourself first. 🙂

I don’t know how often I will post over the duration of my student teaching. I may go back to posting regularly, or I make take another break. Thank you to everybody who continues to read my inconsistent blog. 😉 I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Blog is a virtual world, but we’re still humans in there. There are times when we can’t wait to jot down thoughts and share with our readers but also times when we feel the need of being alone or keeping things for ourselves. I’m sure it happens to every blogger 🙂
