4 Awesome Uses for Pumpkin Guts

After carving a pumpkin, don’t toss the gooey guts! Check out what you can do with it, besides throwing it away.

1.Roast Them
Collect your leftover pumpkin seeds, and rinse them off. Boil them for 10 minutes in salt water. Dry the seeds with a paper towel, and spread them on a baking sheet. Lightly drizzle the seeds with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt. Roast them at 325 Fahrenheit for 18 minutes; stir partway through around the 10 minute mark. Enjoy!

2.  Moisturize
Pumpkin is great for dry skin! Boil some pumpkin guts for 10 minutes, then drain and mash them up. Combine 2 tablespoons of pumpkin with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and spread on your face. Leave on for 20 minutes, and rinse with warm water. The beta-carotene and vitamins in pumpkin pulp will moisturize your skin, and make it glow!

3. Compost
If you have a compost bin, pumpkin guts would be a great addition! Just make sure to take out the seeds, or else you might just get pumpkins sprouting in your compost. 🙂

4. Puree It
Steam the pumpkin pulp until it’s tender. This will take between 30 and 45 minutes. Then, run it through a food processor until it’s smooth. Voilà; you now have pumpkin puree! One fun thing to do is blend it up with cinnamon, nutmeg, coconut milk, honey, and a banana. This makes an amazing pumpkin pie smoothie!

Have fun playing with your pumpkin guts! Comment below if you have any other uses for the leftover pumpkin. 🙂
